I was commissioned by St. Anthony’s Community Center to create a new vision for an old mural wall. It needed to embody the spirit of the four institutions that make up this non-profit that focuses on both child and elder care, and despite the current name, is non-denominational. The result is titled “Menagerie”. It encompasses a collection of animals, both nocturnal, and daytime predator, insect and mammal, with a focus on a hunting dog with a deer fawn nestled lovingly under his snout. The great irony to this work, is that the founder of this now fifty four-old organization had a great affinity for animals, specifically adopting a baby deer at a local Pennsylvania animal refuge. Some things are just cosmic.
